Considering its small town character and relatively secluded
location, Pagosa Springs is able to offer its residents many quality
educational resources, including public schools (Pagosa Elementary,
Pagosa Intermediate, Pagosa Junior High, and Pagosa High School)
private schools (Our Savior Lutheran School, Summit Christian
Academy, Pagosa Springs Education Center, and Archuleta County
High School) adult education offerings through the Archuleta County
Education Center, as well as an active Homeschooling community.
The
nearest four-year college, Fort Lewis College, is located in Durango,
60 miles west of Pagosa. It offers a full range of undergraduate
and graduate level classes, and has a well-respected faculity.
In Pagosa itself, the Archuleta County Education Center also offers
college level classes in conjunction with Pueblo Community College.
Pagosa also
offers a variety of preschool facilities, including a Headstart
Program, and the Seeds of Learning daycare center.
