Come watch the Full Moon rise on Tuesday, August 24th at Chimney Rock Archaeological Area! This program includes hiking up to the Great House Pueblo just before sunset followed by a presentation on the archaeoastronomy of the site given as the full moon rises over the San Juan Mountains. Live flute music by Native American Artist Charles Martinez will accompany the presentation. The gate along Highway 151 will open at 5:45 P.M. and close at 6:30 P.M. The program begins at 7:00pm and the moon rise is at approximately 7:36pm. Reservations are required. Tickets are $15 for this 2-hour program designed for folks 12 years and older. Allow approx. 2-3 hrs for the entire program In addition to the Full Moon Program, a guided tour of the Great Kiva Trail, will be offered at 5:00 P.M. Persons attending the Full Moon Program need to come prepared with flashlights, water (also for sale at the cabin), cushions, and blankets or coats.
