Jan. 2 The trail was groomed Thursday and branches removed from two trees that fell across the trail between the bridge and the summer trailhead. The trees are still there but buried. Exercise caution making these crossings.
Snow trail conditions are fair but need a new snow layer. Most damage from drifting snow and snowmobile use has been removed.
A fresh roll of paper has been placed in the restroom on the third loop.
The Forest Service gates are still closed with single lanes groomed around them. Be careful!
The Main Trail is open with mostly ski skating width and areas for ski skate passing. The two "campground loops" are open with some ski skating width.
"The Switchbacks" are packed single classic skiing width. The telemarking area from the Switchbacks down to the Main Trail is prime for tracking in virgin powder.
Several of the restrooms have lanes groomed by them. The first picnic table in the second campground loop will be cleared of snow for your dining pleasure when we can find it.
