Sir Angel Romero, leading member of the world's most prestigious classical guitarist family, is the featured performer at this year's Music in the Mountains benefit at the Moomaw Ranch on Friday, July 10. To be added to the invitation list, contact Janis Moomaw at 970-264-3010 or pagosa@musicinthemountains.com. Every dollar raised at this special event will benefit our community, helping to fund classical concerts, special musical events, our young people's school programs and music scholarships in Pagosa Springs. Sir Angel Romero has been heralded throughout the world as the Spanish maestro of the classical guitar. In 2000, he was presented with Spain's highest honor, the Grand Cross of Isabel la Catolica, and knighted in recognition of his astounding musical accomplishments. Sir Angel last performed in Pagosa in August 2006 in a Music in the Mountains concert that sold out months in advance. In addition to the extraordinary musical entertainment, the benefit evening will include sumptuous hors d'oeuvres and libations, plus dessert and coffee under the stars. As well, guests will receive a gift of the DVD recording of the Music in the Mountains performance of Verdi's "Requiem" that aired on Rocky Mountain PBS last fall. Dress is classic western or cocktail attire. Time is 6 to 9:30 p.m. Attendance is limited to 200 guests. Cost is $175 per person, $105 of which is tax-deductible as a charitable donation. Tickets for this benefit evening plus the six Music in the Mountains classical, Celtic and country concerts under the tent at BootJack Ranch this summer are on sale at the Pagosa Chamber of Commerce or on line at www.musicinthemountains.com.
