Sunday Express" Specials on the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad abound in July.
Chama, NM & Antonito CO. America's longest and
highest railroad, The Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, is pleased to add for the second year, a great line-up of family-oriented "Sunday Express" train rides. Each of the "Sunday Express" Trains has a special theme-from a Mariachi Train to a Wild West Train. All Sunday Express Trains leave from Chama at 11:00 A.M. and arrive back at the Chama Depot at 3:00 P.M.
This family-adventure experience includes a round trip train ride to Cumbres Pass , a picnic lunch and special theme-oriented entertainment at the Pass. The fares for the "Sunday Express" Specials are $59 for Adult tickets and $29 for Children tickets. This ticket price includes the train ride and hot lunch along with the special theme-oriented entertainment.

THE FREEDON TRAIN* July 5, 2009
The "Freedom Train" celebrates our country's heritage in patriotic style. The experience starts at the Depot with red, white and blue festoons, banners and flags decorating the historic depot. All riders will receive 4th of July souvenirs. Activities planned for the Freedom Train include patriotic entertainment. This train is sure to create a memorable all-American experience for young and old!
THE NATURE TRAIN* July 12, 2009
This "Sunday Express" Nature Train partners with Heron Lake State Park's Osprey Fest and is held on the same weekend as the festival. The C&TS RR will host a "Nature Train" Guide on the trip to point out the unique flora and fauna along the rail route of the Train. The trip will enchant bird lovers and teach the little ones about the area's natural world.
THE MARIACHI TRAIN* July 19, 2009
Bring your dancing feet and join in for a "muy caliente" time on board the "Mariachi Extravaganza" train. Along with the scenic train ride and lunch at the summit of Cumbres Pass, train riders will enjoy music and dancing entertainment. Sure to be a hit for all ages, providing a glimpse of our colorful and musical Hispanic heritage. OLE !
THE WILD WEST TRAIN* July 26, 2009
Take a ride back to the Old West aboard the "Wild West" Express! This ride will be staged with an on-board train robbery and other fun Old West activities. But....bad guys beware....this trip is sure to delight cowgirls and cowboys of all ages!

Every Thursday from June 12 to August 14, the "Cinder Bear Express," will operate a shorter trip designed especially for children. Everybody loves Cinder Bear, the train's official mascot. Kids and parents join him for the four-hour round trip from Chama, New Mexico to Cumbres Pass. The trip is filled with songs, games, and storytelling and a picnic lunch in the mountains. Each child goes home with a CB souvenir and special family memories!
