Dan Aupperle, president of Citizens Bank, accepts the first presentation poster for this summer's Music in the Mountains festival from Janis Moomaw, chair of the Pagosa Springs event, in honor of Citizens Bank's outstanding support.  For the past four years, Citizens Bank has given generously to scholarships for Pagosa's young music students and also has been the top contributor to the benefit that raises funds for local school programs and music scholarships.  More than 30 Music in the Mountains Conservatory scholarships have been awarded to Pagosa students since 2004, with 11 more added to the honor list this summer.  This year's major fundraiser for these efforts will take place  at the Moomaw Ranch on Friday, July 10, featuring a performance by Sir Angel Romero, leading member of the world's most prestigious classical guitar family.  If you want to be added to the invitation list, please contact Janis Moomaw at 970-264-3010 or pagosa@musicinthemountains.com. Sir Angel last performed in Pagosa Springs in August 2006 in a Music in the Mountains concert that sold out months in advance.  In addition to the extraordinary musical entertainment, the benefit evening will include sumptuous hors d'oeuvres and libations, plus dessert and coffee under the stars while enjoying the panoramic view of the nearby mountains and valleys from the Moomaw Ranch patio.  As well, guests will receive a gift of the DVD recording of the Music in the Mountains performance of Verdi's "Requiem" that aired on Rocky Mountain PBS last fall.  Dress for the benefit is classic western or cocktail attire.  Time is 6 to 9:30 p.m.  Attendance is limited to 200 guests.  Cost is $175 per person, $105 of which is tax-deductible as a charitable donation.  Tickets for this benefit evening plus the six Music in the Mountains classical, Celtic and country concerts under the tent at BootJack Ranch this summer are on sale now at the Pagosa Chamber of Commerce or on line at www.musicinthemountains.com.      Photo courtesy Carole Howard
