It is time to start fishing the San Juan as the trout held in the holding ponds are released to the river Saturday, the 28th.

A keeper!

This is a handicapped accessible deck over one of the ponds in east Pagosa. While not perfectly paved it allows access and there are two notches built into the banister for wheelchair folks to hold their rod in until the trout bite. Photo credit, D. West Davies of Jim Smith Reality.

This trio from Santa Fe was delighted they can drive a short distance and find such good fishing. We are happy also!

And they were biting.

They were even biting for neon crimson red haired girls.

Betty exclaimed, " We're having the time of our lives." That is quite a statement!

A scout troop from Texas was invited to take part in the stocking Monday. This is great promotion Thad Cano created as word about the "Most Stocked River in the U.S.A." will spread in the Dallas / Ft. Worth area and beyond.

All of the trout are "catchable" size and a few at a time are transfered from truck to water.

This is serious business, very serious! Actually the fish are so slippery it is almost impossible to hold one for the second or two for photography.

The Pagosa Quality Fish Stocking Project, managed by Thad Cano of the Ski and Bow Rack, has succeeded in its effort to make the San Juan River in Pagosa Springs the most stocked waterway in the country.

The Town Tourism Committee granted $25,000.

A "private donation" of another $25,000.

Thad raised $10,000 from town people.
